Style tagging for older copyrights

Posted under General

For older copyrights, (specifically and why I made this discussion, 2000s ones.) like Azumanga Daioh, Lucky Star, Clannad, and Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu which are all 2000s-styled in nature, only a small percentage of posts with the 2000s_(style). Since these specific examples are 2000s styled by default, it gave me a little bit of a problem seeing how if that is the case, then shouldn’t all of the posts in the copyright should be using the tag?. Or is it only tagged that if it directly hints to the requirements listed on the 2000s_(style) wiki. This doesn’t only apply to 2000s stuff, but also 1990s_(style) too with Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura.

(Also, apologies if I removed or added the style tags that belonged or shouldn’t belong before making thread and realizing it’d be best to have a discussion about it first.)

Please do not blanket add that tag to copyrights, especially since often fan art is off-model.

This ^

These are not 2000s (style), for example: post #9263486, post #9233977, post #8955815, post #9178032

The tag is less about the decade themselves and what something came from, and more about a certain popular style that was most prominent during said time period and doesn't really have much of a name outside of its decade association, same with 1990s (style) et al.

I guess I should’ve been a little more specific. I wasn’t referring to literally all of the posts in the copyrights being tagged that style. But I meant it as in for the usual canon art style for example: post #9290644, post #9289071, post #172933, post #29033. That’s why I (incorrectly, once again my mistake) removed some of the 2000s_(style) tags off of some of them because I felt like we’d need to do the same for all of the posts in that accurate art style.

It's a matter of no one doing it because the tag is newer than a lot of the posts and many of the copyrights are so large that it'd be a pain to do it... But it's still correct for people who are looking for posts in that style, even if the tag doesn't catch every single post (no tag on the site does)

It's alright, you asked for clarification which is already more than some other users do and discussion like this is healthy for the site as a whole. :)

Hello, thank you so much for kindly clearing it up for me! I’ll definitely use what you have said and apply better judgement the next time I see these posts. :-)
