Since the reveal of Project Neural Cloud, we've seen some familiar faces get added to the game such as PA-15 who was a nurse known as Florence, or IDW who was known as Betty.
When tagging these characters, do we continue to use their GFL name or do we tag them by their PNC name, or do we just have them separate?
As, for all intents and purposes, their appearances in Neural Cloud are just them earlier in the timeline and most folks at the moment would've first encountered them in the original, tagging them with their current tags alongside the relevant copyright tag is fine.
I did have a thought on possibly getting aliases for each of the ones reappearing from GFL in NC, or even making costume-style tags for them, if we wanted to free up one of the tags guests can search with, but that's something that can be discussed after it comes out in at least Korean, if not English. As it is still early days for NC, we don't know how it may impact the GFL tag as a whole, we need to see them get more traction (see forum #197810 for a similar conclusion reached for a similar topic related to GFL).
Neural Cloud has come out, and it's already prompted a tagging discussion (alongside topic #22499)!
We've had a few chartags pop up for some of the characters appearing from GFL, but instead of having them appear with the original character tag (i.e. Florence and PA-15), they initially excluded them despite the fact that people looking for that character would likely want to see all iterations (though I've put the tags back).
It seems inevitable that we'll have to tag them in some capacity instead of aliasing as I had initially thought, mainly because in the time since the practice of skin-tagging has spread to Girls' Frontline here too. The only question is how we want to tag them however, as we effectively have two options:
1) continuing the skin-tagging format for Neural Cloud appearances, i.e. PA-15 (Florence) (Girls' Frontline) or (Girls' Frontline NC) - while holding some promise, it runs into issues when it comes to skins in that game too, which might necessitate something along the lines of [GFL core chartag] ([GFL NC character name]) ([costume name]) (Girls' Frontline NC).
2) having the NC tag not follow the skin-tagging format, which is what's been made so far, i.e. Florence (Girls' Frontline NC) - this avoids the aforementioned issue and keeps whatever skin-tagging looking consistent, but it loses the core tag and begins resembling what we're currently seeing for Fate tagging (ex. Saber and Artoria Pendragon (Fate)).
Whichever we go with, we'll have to put in place implications, especially so if we go with the latter option.
