Babydoll vs chemise vs negligee vs nightgown

Babydoll, chemise, negligee and nightgown all either mention each other in their descriptions, have each other as "See Alsos", or both. What exactly are the distinguishing features to differentiate them?

Babydoll - waist length
Chemise - Thigh length
Negligee - Split down the middle
Nightgown - In general?

The wiki descriptions should be fixed and offer some quick and short definitions, rather than read like a Wikipedia excerpt. They're a bit unhelpful if you're not a native English speaker.

Should the first three implicate nightgown?

• A babydoll is usually distinguished by individual breast cups designed to form cleavage like in post #3599195 or post #3779501. They're frequently drawn with a center slit like in post #3876099.
• A chemise is just a long camisole. They aren't necessarily meant to be provocative like most lingerie. When I think of a chemise, I think of something like post #1502701 or post #2821639.
• Negligee is a pretty ambiguous term. Negligees come in various lengths and styles, but they should be at least waist-length and they're usually made out of sheer materials. Note that this tag implicates lingerie for some reason, so try to avoid using it for ordinary undergarments that aren't of a more sensual design.
• The nightgown wiki is ridiculously vague, so it's no surprise that the tag gets used for basically every style of sleepwear and lingerie imaginable. I would prefer to see this tag reserved for more dress-like garments such as post #1323912, post #2664683, post #3709708, post #3820402, and post #3825422, but at this point the tag may be beyond saving. Compare the way we use this tag to the Google Images results.

All of those descriptions were copied verbatim from their respective Wikipedia articles by user #304373. If they read like Wikipedia excerpts, that's because they are. This is exactly the sort of wiki writing I strive to avoid because it completely disregards the way those tags are actually used, and because Wikipedia articles frequently contradict each other.

You might as well nuke nightgown altogether in that case. There's no point in having such an ambiguous tag.
