I think the anatomy is excellent and the shading and coloring is beautifully done.

It's definitely well drawn, and while the composition is rather simplistic the details make it worth it. I think the main reason it didn't get approved was that original and male_focus are both tags that aren't really popular, so it was just "not interested" for all mods (keep in mind that if a picture is really good it gets approved even if it's full of unpopular tags. This one is good, but nothing exceptional)

If I could, I would approve of it. But yeah, obscure copyrights and unpopular tag combinations won't catch the eyes of the most active approvers.

I concur with what Borrator said. Their are two factors to any picture being approved: those being how well it's drawn, and how interesting it is.

If a picture is uninteresting, unless it is very well drawn, it probably won't be approved.
On the other hand, if a picture is interesting enough, unless it is very poorly drawn, it will usually be approved.

I'd like to think that if it was a pretty girl in a bikini drawn in the same style, it would be approved in an instant.

I wouldn't say they're doodles, they look like images prior to coloring for animation.

Now, I don't want to make a habit of posting here and I don't want to sound bitter but I can't help but feel this is another post that was overlooked because of the gender: post #2161136. Yes, the composition is simple, but quality wise I don't see how it's any different from all the bikini pictures that are posted here.

This is the exact same guy with a very similar art style. Not much else to say other than "I'd approve it."

The population of Danbooru is likely overwhelmingly hetero males, with some fujoshi sprinkled in. At some point you have to expect this to happen and appeal based on the image's artistic merit rather than its appeal factor, or lack thereof for most people.

The artist's style looks too simplistic for a lot of thr approvers to care about. But what do I think about them? I think I would approve the Tomoko post but only with other's opinions stated. Also, the artist appears to be mostly hit and miss when it comes to quality in my opinion.
