It’s possible it wasn’t actually intentional on Saruei’s part (comment #2537420). I don’t care enough to look into it to verify it, but things like legal teams going farther than the client wanted are certainly possible.
However, what I don’t find plausible is that so many artists suddenly decided to have all of their art taken down (I thought it would be mostly her own art, but no, there are plenty others). We’re only supposed to ban posts according to the artists’ request, so fan art should be off-limits for official legal teams. Even if they send DMCAs for fanart, we don’t have an obligation to comply since they had no hand in their creation. That leads me to believe that the legal team somehow managed to strongarm those artists into submitting DMCAs.
