On the Touhou soccer topic, I'd imagine Tenshi's "Border of Death"(Hyper) mode would be triggered by getting knocked away a few times and the effect would boost her stats, particularly the one that enables her not to get knocked away.

The pool description says the person wounded should appear "unfazed". Tenshi is pretty obviously being affected by all of this, just not in the way one would usually expect...

Have you actually encountered both? I know a properly inflated basketball is at least heavier. And rougher. (Although honestly, which one's "harder" depends on the pressure inside.)

Tenko is a Celestial, after all. (Though, this doesn't look like Heavenly Guardian Defense, since she's not using Hisou no Tsurugi... perhaps Immortal Blade-Deflecting Palm? Of course, this implies she's using Chung's SHS rewrite...)

Adamant Skin Technique!! (Also, can't believe there're fellow players here in Danbooru) XD

A soccer ball is well designed for face contact. It's pretty smooth. Contact still hurts but the texture of the ball is much more inviting than that of a basketball. They've got a lot of goosebumpy grips so that it's easier to grasp with your hands. The soccer ball feels like a hard facepalm. The basketball feels like 100 bees in attack formation glued to that palm.

A large caliber low-velocity bullet. I'm not kidding, a 96+ mph serve straight to the face does not feel good at all. Truth be told it's enough to break the skull of someone with weaker bones... I'm lucky that I don't fit in that category.
Flippernino said: I don't know how much worse it is to take it in the face, but for the most part even high-speed hits aren't so bad since the balls are so light and elastic.
If you get hit by a soccer ball it wouldn't feel hurt at all since there's a lot of contact surface, soft material and the ball is pretty slow due to it's mass.
Whilst the tennis balls....low mass -> high velocity, harder material, springs inside and little contact surface => HUGE pain.
With Tenshi, I don't know if they were playing soccer, or firing squad, but I'm sure some people would know who they want as their tank, or bullet sponge.
Tenshi has done the impossible! Her teammates rush the field, happy as a lark as they slide in - a Bernini sculpture of a finish as her teammates carry her off on the stretcher of glory! Hinanawi Tenshi and her face of steel have won it all.
