    はいてんの = はいてるの, with の acting as a soft questioning particle. She's asking "Are you wearing panties under this, Ana?"

    これパンツ="These panties" doesn't it?
    I know the more typical way of saying it would be こんのパンツ but I think they're essentially the same thing. So I think she's asking "These are the panties you're wearing?"

    No, Japanese distinguishes between demonstratives from ーれ and ーの group, one is never the other. So これ is always "there", never "this". Besides, it's この, not こんの. As an added bonus, notice there's a small space between これ and パンツ.

    So, joining that with what LaC said, you can translate it literally into "There, are you wearing panties. Ana-chan?", and it'll be essentially good. Some reshaping would be in order, but it's already something you could say and it'd work.

    Argh, got carried away, これ is of course "this" as well, but a different category (substantive vs. adjective). This is a distinction that's not explicit in English, but is very much so in Japanese.

    I've never before seen これ used in any sense other than to refer to a specific object near the speaker.

    What does having a space indicate?

    Yes, but if これ means "this", it doesn't mean that これりんご means "this apple". And that was basically the conclusion you were drawing.

    What does having a space indicate?

    Umm, presumably a small pause, which would change the meaning, not entirely unlike a comma in English. Cf.
    "There you don't have to do that."
    vs.
    "There, you don't have to do that."

    I wasn't disputing your interpretation, I was just seeking clarification. I'm not familiar with this usage of これ.
    What would これりんご mean then?
