The trick in this situation is to drink and enjoy, but stave off becoming completely plastered. Being toltally wasted greatly increases the change of entire loss of mojo, the ability to clearly remember what happened the following day, and greatly impairs judgment. The last thing you want to do is to get lucky, not remember it, and find that all the jimmy caps in yo wallet are unused... Which might be because you were foolish enough not to use one, OR because you failed to launch. Either way, you feel like a jackass the next morning.
comment #29096 Actually while I was living in Japan last year, I found it to be a very drunken holiday for all... there is a lot of drinking with most such festivities ^^; Actually, I got up for an early jog the night after (actually the partying goes on for a few nights, but this was sunday morning I think) and you would NOT believe how many beer cans, sake bottles, and convini bento boxes were strewn about Yoyogi park. It out of this world. The homeless dudes were piling up the cans and bottles into separate mounds on the south entrace of the park, and it looked like a city recycling center. Wish I would have thought to take a picture.
