First off It was only like that for less than 3 mins it only took that long because safari lost connection to the site while I was in the middle of tagging. And the tags were quite in depth too, only for safari to drop the connection to the site and not save any of my tags. It was unexpected not intentional. And when such things happen out of my control I still try to go back and add as many tags as I can. Being a contributor doesn’t mean we are perfect. We are susceptible to mistakes or mishaps too.

Doesn’t change uploaded with no tags? You can’t loose connection then post it. You just straight uploaded with no tags it’s not that deep when you add it right after. The point was I got hate for adding tags rights after but multiple (not just you sorry you was just a direct example) of contributors upload no tags and add after but wrs privately messaged me dissing me for it

Again want to put it more clearly. Not a diss to you in anyway.

I’ve seen approvers and moderators alike upload first and add tags after. I’ve been told by approvers in the past that’s okay so long as the post isn’t left untagged for too long(very short interval). The problem is how long the post is left with no tags. Which is why I clarified in this context it was because the safari disconnected from the site while I was tagging. I reacted immediately as soon as the site connected again which was under 3 mins. I have no context to your situation, If you have further issues with feedback you’ve been given by a moderator communicate with that moderator in private, or speak to a different moderator or an admin. Again do so in private. Causing drama in a public post(because that’s exactly what you’re doing regardless of intention) is not the way to go about it.

I don't know which post you were criticized for, but there are tags that should always be added before uploading. Mainly things like commonly blacklisted tags such as genitals, sexual fluids, guro, etc., as well as the Gold+ only tags. If one of the images you tagged after uploading had that kind of content, then it's possible that was the reason.

For other tags, it is technically allowed to add them after posting. As long as it's something not likely to be blacklisted, it's not a huge deal if it's left untagged for only a few minutes. However, I think it's better to tag as thoroughly as possible before posting anyway. In sinhaven69's case, they're lucky they were only disconnected for a couple minutes. It could've easily been a couple hours. Either way, adding the tags afterward has a minor risk of leaving it untagged for an extended time. This risk drops to 0 when you add them all on the upload screen.

Some users do it to avoid getting sniped, but I don't think the risk is so high that it's necessary to do this. In my case, I have over 8,500 uploads and only got sniped once (though the series I upload from are typically from dead or obscure gachas, so maybe I just don't have a lot of competition).

Also, Contributors do get punished for leaving posts untagged for extended periods. One was recently banned for a week because they not only showed no improvement in their tagging, but also created a favgroup specifically for posts they left untagged and planned to tag later.

In addition to what Blank said above, I've also accidentally ctrl+entered before I finished tagging before on several occasions. Mistakes happen, but if you're adding the tags as soon as possible it's not that big of a deal. The problem with mintagging arises from people not tagging commonly blacklisted tags or just leaving posts for other people to do your work for you, which is what most often happens.

Fwiw uploading and adding tags later is one of the most idiotic common practices on this site. It's a race to the bottom and "tag the important tags" is always watered down to "just tag some things within like an hour" (this is how you get what users like user #748553 are doing). It drives away people who actually care about tagging in favor of people who couldn't give two shits about whether they added the right tags, and it's always handwaved away with the justification that "well it's more posts for the site and more posts is good".

If you constantly get sniped then you aren't providing any value to the site with the posts you are making, since someone else would've uploaded it anyway. Go up some of the millions of posts that wouldn't get uploaded otherwise instead.

You posted it without any tags. There's a tag box on the upload page, so losing connection is no excuse.

Strange misrepresentation of what I said. You complained about me locking your forum topics, so I made a little nudge that you aren't going to get much of an opportunity to check the quality of your posts if you're too focused on mashing them through and getting your name on the upload instead of being thoughtful about what you are uploading. You're so self-centered that you can't even clearly understand what I'm telling you and have to make every comments section and forum posts about you.

I would really hope that moderators aren't zero tagging posts. There's been a few accidents where someone hit enter first and that's okay. There's also nothing wrong with going back over and adding more tags if you realised you missed some.

You know, I realize now that "technically allowed" is probably not an appropriate way to describe this practice. That's like saying mistagging characters is "technically allowed." It' something you should avoid if you can help it, but it happens. I think we should be coming down harder on the ones that keep doing it intentionally.

Even the hitting enter issue can be prevented by not rating your post until you've done everything else. That said, I do sometimes end up posting without some of the non-gen tags, but the popup reminders help me fix it immediately (I don't know why the copytags are left off as often as they are even when its easy to find out which series the character is from).

It is allowed and admins have said as much which is why there aren't more bans for it, but we expect certain things to be tagged on upload (mostly censored tags) and for people to not leave posts with no tags for a long period of time. I don't like talking about it though because even if it's not prohibited, I don't like encouraging it even passively by saying this or seeing more people jump on the bandwagon only to get themselves into trouble. That's different from intentionally mistagging things, which people get banned for.

Usually I try to be as thorough as possible with tagging (mainly because unlike some people apparently, I get happy chemicals from doing that + very fast typing speed). But when I upload on mobile, every so often my finger slips onto the "Post" button well before I finished tagging, which is always a little embarassing and results in a mad dash to finish tagging.

I dunno if there's a solution to that I haven't thought of. Probably not, but still. Curse my tendency to upload right before bed...

I feel like I am always doubling back to add or remove tags on posts I just tagged up and uploaded lol. Such is life. I add more tags to random posts I find semi-regularly, and one of these days I'll fix my EventListener to see what tags others are adding to my posts that I'm missing. Eventually.

Also, while it may just be me speaking as someone rarely sniped due to my unusual copyright choices + tendency to swoop in and dump anything from a gallery other uploaders missed, I really think prioritizing avoiding getting sniped is a bad way to look at tagging and stuff. Annoying when it happens, yes, but having the post archived for me means I can go on to the next thing no worse for the wear. Some people seem to treat getting sniped like it's the end of the world, which is just silly I think. Heaven help y'all if our names get Anoned ever again on post upload...
