Cool story, bro...but given samurai swords were often tested based on how many bodies they could clever in one stroke, a shield like that would be completely in two before a Viking could even finish saying, "Oh, shi-"

Yeah... but the thing is, it's soft areas is only focused on the edges, not the entire shield. I mean, if the shield can be cut into two with a sword, no one would be using a shield like that in the first place.
