saya (scabbard)
Saya (鞘) is a Japanese scabbard. Traditionally done in lightweight lacquered wood.
Components
- Koiguchi: the mouth of the scabbard or its fitting
- Kojiri: scabbard's end cap, chape
- Kurigata: knob on the side of the scabbard for attaching the sageo
- Sageo: cord, passed through the kurigata for tying the scabbard to the belt
