Is that just highly saturated shadow around her neck area?
the colors on her left sleeve makes me think it is more a pattern, the shading is smooth while those parts are sharply defined and following the fold of the fabric rather than a drop shadow
Maybe I'm being overly swayed by the color, but does anyone else get a Statue of Liberty influence?
The poses are approximately mirrored. Gamby has her left arm raised, her right arm low, her head turned to the left. The SoL has her right arm raised, left arm low, and head slightly turned to the right.
Gamby is holding a smartphone in her right hand. The SoL is holding a stone tablet in her left.
Map vs torch; both are symbols of guidance
The dark shading on Gamby's right shoulder creates an illusion of a roman toga slung over her left shoulder and pinned back.
The pointed ends of the hair ribbon suggest the SoL's rayed crown
The SoL is stepping over a broken shackle and chain, symbolizing the abolition of slavery 20 years before its construction. At Gamby's feet is an abyssal lifebuoy, a token reminder of her abyssal form. Shackles and lifebuoys have a similar shape (toroidal). However a lifebuoy is meant to assist, not restrict, and this lifebuoy is attempting to assist Gamby.
