As a giant nerd, I'm cringing here. UPS aren't especially expensive if you just want battery and surge protection. And she sold to the whole damn base.

Bad luck with UPS here. The battery fail after a year and also they expand so much it's hard to extract and replace. Given her activities, a laptop suits her better.

I've never had a UPS last longer than 10 months and no company ever honored their warranty. I'm not in the mood to keep replacing a 100$ UPS every year.
