Hamakaze looks upset. I foresee a foot massage in Akigumo's near future.

For the first time since ever, Akigumo felt like a girl.

Akigumo does have a point. Blouse or dress or frills doesn't really mix well with electronics.

No need to be overly flashy. (Hibiki's clothes looked rather practical though, even in this situation)

Eh, I see people successfully navigating even the horror that is MelonBooks Akihabara #1 on Day 4 in things like Akigumo is wearing. The actual electronic stores (as opposed to the parts/second-hand/misc electronics stores) like Sofmap and LAOX are very spacious in Akiba. Akigumo would be able to go to pretty much any of the otaku-catering stores in Akiba easily, even the underground place next to Star Kebabs or the old Lashingban.

And even if you were in something a bit overly foofy, Toranoana C is also rather spacious (and not only a fine selection, but also the second-hand doujins!); the other Toras are pretty spacious too. MelonBooks is moving their #2 store to a new location, which promises to also be more spacious than their old premises.

Personally, I've gotten around with a solid half-meter of doujin on my back around Akiba with little issue (apart from the back pain).

I don't want to imagine taking the train during busy periods with that load.

Pro tip:take the ferry back from the Big Sight. Then taxi, because it's a 10 minute walk from the terminal to the JR station.

Honestly though, train is fine, you just take up two people's worth, and try to avoid busy times. I made a custom collapsible insert for my backpack from corflute to keep the doujin all nice a stacked properly. It's only a major issue at Summer Comiket, and you can use anti heat exhaustion measures to help alleviate to murderous summer sun.

I'm guessing rolling suitcases are suboptimal for transportation of doujinshi?

This is what crosses my mind.

Btw, are subways (or trains) in Tokyo always that cramped? I live near the busiest subway station in my country and never had to push away the wall like that to fit in. (except when it snowed like 20cm in a city with latitude ~37.5°N and elevation <50m, but that almost never happens)

Nah, lots of people use them, and they even function as seats! I just prefer the crowd navigating ease of a backpack. But I have a stupidly high load tolerance. Best thing you can have is a friendly circle to drop off goods with. And then you can use a full-size wheely suitcase when you go home.

No, only on certain lines, and only at certain times. And even then, it's only between certain stations. I mean, you're not going to get a seat during rush hour on any line - unless you get on near the line's start, but it's not super crushed. I wouldn't say it's pleasant, but manageable.

Worst I ever experienced is the first train to Comiket - which, indeed, had pushers. I now go from the opposite side of the trains to the big site; technically is the second train, but much more comfortable.

I just pity the people who have to take the JR Chuo every morning, the poor sods.

I don't know about Tokyo, but New York City has a similar issue.

But like Paracite said: its only on certain lines, and only at certain times. And even then, it's only between certain stations. And, of course, god help you if theres a blockage for some reason. (Medical emergency, etc)

Weird-T? No, I'm taking this opportunity to partake of what Hibiki-senpai chose for me.
    Ahaha, thanks!
Hey now, not in a weird-T today, huh?
    Senpai?
    To the Electric Town.
But what with it being here in the Electric Town, I'm way more used to my normal duds...
    twirlawhirla...
Today, I'm going with sempai to the Electric Town. /denkigai/, one of the various terms used to refer to Akihabara; while the /gai/ part could also mean street, Electric Town is what JR uses for the exit.
Those clothes certainly look great on you too, senpai.
    Hamakaze here.
