    どうも肥料が多かったんじゃないかという話です。
    そんなにあげたつもりもないんですけどねえ(^^;)

    Hang in There, Kogasa-san 2273

This is one of those tales where we might have had too much fertilizer. We didn't mean to give them that much, though. (^^;)

You haven't honored the Aki sisters properly! Draw their doujinshis before autumn to ask for their blessing for your yam crops!

Reader-added tags include "Aki Sisters: 'The soil is infertile...'", "Sweet potatoes", and "Aki Sisters: 'Sorry, we were sleeping.'"

"I yam what I yam," says the survey:

How do you eat sweet potatoes?
    • Roasted
    • Fried
    • Steamed
    • Tempura
    • Turn them into candy

I once grew carrots and this happened. They were smaller than my pinky finger. I thought it was from a lack of fertilizer (I was curious how little they needed).

The problem with bulbous plants (ones which store the nutrients on their roots) mostly are not the amount of nutrients that infuses the soil, but rather the conditions to make them store the nutrients in their bulbs instead of making their stems and leaves grew. Sweet potatoes will began to store up nutrients in their tubers if their stems and leaves got regularly pruned within 2-3 feet from the main stalk. Also, don't over-fertilize---nitrogen will boost the growth of plant's stem and leaves but won't do much on tubers. Instead, phosphorus and potassium would.

For carrots, what you need is a good, airy soil that is not too densely packed. Carrots grew in hydroponics could be longer, larger and sweeter compared to those planted in soil because it met less resistance while growing.

    How about sweet potatoes?
What will we grow this year?
Roasted potatoes or tempura would sure be good!
And they sure are sweet and tasty!
    Autumn...
    And now, we harvest them.
    Okay!
