That's the more recent incarnation of the Albacore; the USS Albacore (a Gato-class submarine) being referred to here is the one that sank the original Sazanami. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Albacore_%28SS-218%29

The Gato-class along side other American submarines terrorized the Japanese surface fleet during WWII; ironically, the Japanese Self-Defense Forces first post-WWII submarine was a Gato-class submarine called the Mingo. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Mingo_%28SS-261%29

For context, USS Sand Lance (SS-381) sunk Tatsuta. I pity Admiral if he gets a model of the USS Sealion (SS-315).
