Well, "shop" doesn't always mean that in the exact literal sense. It can be used to mean "restaurant", for instance, which one wouldn't usually refer to as a "shop". It's more like "place of business", I suppose. But considering what might be said in naturally flowing English for a location like the one they pass, "place" or "spot" is what came to mind.

For the poll, it's gotta be Gundam kits! They're always really fun to build and fiddle around with.

Although, I have wanted to get one or two of those Youkai Watch kits they're coming out with. It's simple, but it's really different.
