Cocaine, obviouslyHaving amassed massive profits from smuggling drugs, Noriega garnered the attention of the United States through such reckless attitude and subsequently caused the US Army to invade his country.
Later, after having finished serving time in prison in France and the United States, he was returned to Panama. Reportedly, Noriega was brought to a hospital after being diagnosed with high blood pressure in February 2012.
Although he had ties to the CIA, rumors abound that he was actually a double agent for Cuba. It's also said that the US invasion of Panama was devised by then-CIA director George H. W. Bush, who personally knew Noriega, to "silence" him.
