trickcal
An autochess-like 2D auto-battler gacha game developed and published by Korean studio Epid Games, known for its chibi-styled characters by Diyap and general lighthearted tone. "Trickcal" is a portmanteau of "trick" and "musical", according to Epid.
Takes place in a fantasy setting with elements of science fiction, following the story of the Leader—transported to the world of Elias and assigned leader of a divine order—as well as those of Elias's residents.
Development began in 2019 as the unfinished chess-themed auto-battler Roll the Chess, which would be scrapped and become Trickcal, with Korean chibi artist Diyap as lead illustrator. Trickcal's September 27, 2021 launch saw myriad issues; on October 3, Epid pulled the game to salvage the IP. Diyap would part ways with Epid on January 19, 2022. Trickcal RE:VIVE (a play on Cygames's Princess Connect! Re:Dive) released September 27, 2023, overcoming hardships to find success in 2024. The global version, Trickcal: Chibi Go, launched October 9, 2025 in partnership with Bilibili; playable with Chinese, English, or Japanese text, and new Japanese voice acting or the original Korean.
