A gate or doors used at train station platforms and subway stations to separate the railroad tracks from the platform.

Primarily used for passenger safety, they are a relatively new addition to many subway systems around the world, some having been retrofitted to established systems. They are widely used in newer Asian and European metro systems, and Latin American bus rapid transit systems.

They are also known as platform screen doors or platform edge doors, and sometimes used on bus, streetcar, or light rail systems.
