The Cantonese variant of shaomai, a small Chinese steamed dumpling with an open top. Shumai, or Siu Mai, is the Cantonese word for "shaomai". The Cantonese variant is usually cup-shaped with yellow, sometimes white or translucent folded wrappers, minced pork and prawn fillings and topped off with crab roe (orange dot) or green bean (green dot).
