On December 14, 2012, a school shooting occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, United States. The perpetrator, former student, 20-year old Adam Lanza murdered 26 people, including 20 students aged 6-7 and 6 staff members prior to murdering his mother, Nancy Lanza earlier that day where Lanza subsequently died by suicide. it is the second deadliest American school shooting and the deadliest school shooting in Connecticut.
