scout car
A scout car is a light, wheeled (4×4 or 6×6), armored military vehicle. Smaller and more agile than a tank, it also has lower capacity than an armored personnel carrier. The armament is mostly a machine gun or an autocannon.
Not to be confused with an armored car, which refers to a civilian automobile with improvised armor.
