Pteruges (From Ancient Greek πτέρυγες (ptéruges) meaning feathers) were sets of leather or linen strips forming a skirt-like part of armour covering upper parts of limbs. They were worn as covers for hips and thighs as well as epaulette-like covers for upper arms.
