pokemon the series: ruby and sapphire
The second series of the Pokémon anime, based on the events of Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. It follows the original series and was succeeded by Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl. It ran from November 21, 2002 to September 14, 2006 in Japan and from November 1, 2003 to March 3, 2007 in the United States. Known as Pocket Monsters: Advanced Generation in Japan.
In this series, Ash travels through the Hoenn region, collecting Gym Badges in order to compete in the Hoenn Pokémon League, then through Kanto, where he challenges the Battle Frontier. He is joined by longtime travelling companion Brock, rookie Trainer and Pokémon Coordinator May, and her younger brother, Max.
