playing card (medium)
An entire image drawn to look like a playing card, or an image of the card face itself.
Traditionally the design on all cards (with the possible exception of the ace of spades) is rotationally symmetric, so they can be read easily upside-down or right-side up. This means that face cards usually have two faces, in opposing orientations. This has led to the face cards becoming linked to the concept of duality. Face card illustrations often feature strong color contrast and/or symbolic dichotomy, usually of the "light side vs. dark side" variety.
