The Consolidated PBY Catalina was a patrol flying boat primarily operated by the United States and their Allies in World War II. Originally designed as a patrol bomber with long range required for Pacific operations, it also saw use as a recon aircraft, search-and-rescue, anti-submarine, and transport.
