nata (trickcal)

A character in Trickcal.

Nata is a sentient AI that serves as the caretaker to ED. Its body is shaped like a white or silver crescent moon with a broken ring around its middle and a disc in the curve of the crescent which contains Nata's "face". Ornaments shaped like diamonds and planets are sometimes seen to dangle from the ring, making Nata resemble a mobile, a type of toy stereotypically found above a baby's cradle.

Nata comes from a line of machines known as Life Line Establishing Logic Systems (LLEL-S), developed by the elves of Monatium for combat, space travel and life support, which were also known as Nata systems. When the elven mayor Elena ordered the mass destruction of all LLEL-S units due to their obsolescence, this Nata unit—having achieved a higher intelligence and now referring to itself as Nata, as a name rather than a product—fled from Monatium, discovering ED along its way and taking her into its care.
