moonflower (flower)
Ipomoea alba, commonly called moonflower, is a species of flowering plant of the genus Ipomoea in the family Convolvulaceae.
As a species of morning glory, it shares the same features. The flowers are funnel-shaped, but instead of blooming during the day, they bloom at night. The flowers are usually white, but sometimes pink.
All species of Datura are extremely poisonous and psychoactive, especially their seeds and flowers.
Its common Japanese name, ヨルガオ (夜顔 yoru-gao), literally translates to "night face". They are known as “datura”, “thornapples”, “jimsonweeds”, “devil's trumpets”, “mad apple”, “devil's weed”, and “hell's bells”.
