joel (dr. stone)

joel_gear joel ジョエル

Joel Gear is a skilled American watchmaker who appears in Dr. Stone. After being petrified during the global event, he was revived thousands of years later by the Kingdom of Science to examine and repair the Petrification Device. Joel is highly confident in his craftsmanship, though his mannerisms shift depending on whom he speaks to: he becomes shy and soft-spoken around women, but blunt, arrogant, and overly talkative around men. He values precision above all, believing that a proper man must always wear a watch.

Joel is a young adult man with dark olive-green eyes and short red hair cut in a bowl shape, with two distinct strands sticking upward like the numbers “1” and “2.” He typically wears clothing decorated with clock motifs—loose garments featuring scattered numerals, spiral patterns, and dangling, heart-shaped clock hands. He also wears a jeweler’s loupe strapped to his head, which he uses while working with delicate mechanisms.

After joining the Kingdom of Science’s efforts, Joel crafted a pair of functional wristwatches shortly after revival and later repaired the Medusa device, creating a replacement diamond battery at its core. He is often seen squatting while working instead of using a table, and he treasures his loupe as his most important tool. During colder environments or expeditions, he dons thicker layered clothing while continuing his mechanical work.
