iterator (rain world)

In the game Rain World, Iterators are sapient artificial intelligences running on semi-biological supercomputers of colossal scale (large enough to build cities on top of). Nearly always an Iterator is depicted through its "puppet": a humanoid robot which serves as a humanoid interface device. Each Iterator's puppet has a characteristic design which includes skin color, a unique forehead mark. and various styles of robot ears.

Two Iterators can be met in the course of regular gameplay:

  • Looks to the Moon
  • Five Pebbles

An additional three Iterators cannot be met, but have a canonical appearance and play a major role in the events and lore of the game.

  • No Significant Harassment
  • Seven Red Suns
  • Sliver of Straw

Note: Being artificial intelligences, Iterators and their puppets lack a gender as traditionally defined. Despite this, all observed Iterators (with one exception) exhibit a gender identity and use gendered pronouns to refer to each other. Looks to the Moon and Sliver of Straw take the pronoun "she" (and Moon self-identifies as "Big Sis Moon"), while Five Pebbles and No Significant Harassment take "he". The exception is Seven Red Suns, who is referred to with singular "they". Whether these distinctions are sufficient to tag pictures as 1girl/boy/other, 2girls/boys/others, etc. is left up to individual taggers.
