glaive (polearm)

A European polearm weapon, consisting of a single-edged blade on the end of a pole. It is similar to the Japanese naginata and the Chinese guan dao.

The term "glaive" has also been repurposed in certain (primarily Western) fantasy series to describe an oversized throwing weapon resembling a shuriken, chakram or throwing knife. Do not tag these examples as glaive; use the appropriate tags instead.
