disintegration
When a character or object is breaking into shards or something else solid, such as butterflies, petals, et cetera. Be sure to include distortion or body horror when applicable.
Use fading instead if the character is becoming transparent, dissolving if they are turning into liquid or smoke, melting if they are dripping, or alternate body fluid if they are bleeding something other than blood.
