Browning, but the design was further adapted for its barrel to be more longer, bulkier, and heavier, as well as being quick to change with new barrel for the barrel to withstand the physical wear and overheating, and mass-produced for official military uses in 1933. It is extensively used by various armed forces around the world, including the U.S Army. It is the second oldest weapon in the U.S Army's arsenal after M1911 pistol.
