    at-st

A fictional walker mecha from the Star Wars Science Fiction series. It first appeared in the Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back film from 1980.

The Kuat Drive Yards All Terrain Scout Transport Walker, also known as the Chicken Walker or simply as the AT-ST Walker, was a small bipedal mecha used by the Galactic Republic during the late Clone Wars and, later and more extensively, the Galactic Empire during the Galactic Civil War.

The standard model was equipped with a chin-mounted double medium blaster cannon, a concussion grenade launcher on the starboard side of its head, two feet with claws, a blaster cannon on the port side and laser resistant armor.

The AT-ST was designed to be a reconnaissance attack vehicle. It was lighter than its bigger brother, the AT-AT, and could withstand standard blaster fire, but was vulnerable to heavy laser fire and missiles, as well as physical attacks to the legs and the sides of the cockpit.

While initially designed for multiple terrains, it was later used in urban areas mostly, where it proved to be more effective as an infantry support unit.

The AT-ST was designed in the early 80s.
