A mecha from the Gundam series. Notable because it has the distinction of being the first robot to appear in the original anime.
Originating from Mobile Suit Gundam, the MS-06 Zaku II is the main combat mobile suit of the Principality of Zeon during the One Year War, the Zaku II F/J being the first variation shown, with several more of this mobile suit appearing since. Characterized by its domed head, spiked shoulder, one eye/head-mounted camera, and (typical) dark green color. It is armed with a 120 mm machine gun cannon, a heat hawk, bazookas, rocket launchers and grenades.
In universe, the deployment of this MS in vast numbers was the direct cause for the development of the RX-78-2 Gundam by the Earth Federation. Years after the end of The One Year War, several captured Zaku II units were kept in use by the EF ground forces. Neo Zeon also kept using the machine decades after its introduction and in countless conflicts.
In real life, the Zaku II was designed by Ookawara Kunio in the late 70s.
