The main hero of Tenkuu no Escaflowne, Van is the prince of Fanel who pilots the mecha Escaflowne and fights to defend his land from the Zaibach Empire, but is a pacifist at heart. He is responsible for transporting Kanzaki Hitomi to Gaea and promises to help her return.
