The Oriental Republic of Uruguay (commonly known as Uruguay), is a country located in the South Cone of South America. It shares land borders with Argentina to its west and southwest and Brazil to its north and northeast.

The official language is Spanish.

The Uruguay national football team has won the FIFA World Cup on two occasions. Uruguay won the inaugural tournament on home soil in 1930 (First World Cup) and again in 1950.
