Maou is a male character from the series Level 1 Demon Lord & One Room Hero. Their initial form and comment on Maou's neither region early in the series by their servant Zenia indicate Maou's base gender as male. As a demon lord though transformation is one of their primary skills and to fit into the human world they regularly take on a female human form and they do not have particular issue wearing girls clothing (outside of some complaints of wearing something too frilly or servant attire with maid clothing).
Maou is the demon lord who rules the demon races. Having been defeated by the human hero Max, Maou vowed revenge and that they'd returned one day. A decade later they returned, although not to their full power and stature but still very adamant to seeing what the hero has been up to in the last 10 years. Upon learning about Max's condition as an out of work homebody, they end up getting involve with Max's life and trying to help him. Despite Maou's claims as being Max's adversary, they're very much a huge fan of Max and likely have some degree of a crush on him.
