If the soles are covered but the toes and heels aren't, use stirrup legwear with pantyhose instead. If the leggings end at the thighs, like thighhighs, tag detached leggings instead.

They are often associated with 1980s fashion, although in the 2010s and 2020s they became associated with athleisure fashion and the trend of wearing workout clothes as casual wear.

Not to be confused with pantyhose or thighhighs. Leggings don't cover the feet and are typically made from thicker elastic material and are often worn as clothing on their own, similar to pants.
