Hifumi is a member of Matenro and the No.1 host in Shinjuku, but has an extreme fear of women. By wearing his suit jacket, he is able to enter 'host mode' and overcome his fear of women.
His personality changes greatly depending on whether he has the jacket on or not, which sometimes surprises those around him. When his jacket is removed, he goes from being a suave and semi-formal host to a bubbly and teasing man with a more high-pitched tone of voice and informal way of speaking. He shares an apartment with Kannonzaka Doppo, his childhood friend since elementary school, and is responsible for all the household chores and cooking. He often trembles and cling to Doppo when encountering a woman without his suit jacket on.
