A hirabitai is a type of women's traditional Japanese hair ornament from the Heian period. It is a flat golden piece with three prongs pointing upwards, secured with a comb and hairpins (kushi and saishi). Often seen on characters wearing karaginu mo (layered kimono) or on the "mebina" doll of Hinamatsuri.
