A section where security personnel check individuals and prevent them from sneaking in weapons, bombs, or contraband before entering.

There are two common types:

• The first type of security checkpoint is usually fitted with a walkthrough metal detector and a baggage scanner, and manned by security guards. This security checkpoint is typically seen at an airport, courthouse, or a stadium.
• The second type of security checkpoint is usually fitted with a boom barrier, a stop sign, and an armed security. This security checkpoint is typically seen at a military base, border crossing, or any area off to the public.
