She is portrayed with long blonde hair and red eyes, with large breasts.

Her default outfit, fittingly enough, is royal in theme and consisting of a red fur trim cape, red jacket with epaulettes and sleeve rank for captains, medals, a double-breasted white shirt, white pleated skirt, black thighhighs with garter straps, black knee boots, blue hair ribbon, and a saber as her melee weapon (which also doubles as a seiyuu connection with another one of Kawasumi's roles).

Her rigging consists of her two real-life 356 mm quad main gun mounts attached to a funnel-and-mast piece behind her, and two hull pieces containing her third 356 mm twin mount on her left and two 13.3 cm twin DP mounts on her right.
