when a man love beyond which death a woman in that case even the doppelganger magic transform have no effect on him, to love a illusion cause to much pain for him and he will stay to a doppelganger: even if you can have everything from the woman that i have love your are not really her and i can never gave oneself to illusion like you! but there must be also man who like the true being form the doppelgander and love her where she is.

i feel kinda bad for the true doppelganger, never able to show her true form in case the man hates her for decieving him...although she might get lucky ;)

it can be also a problem when monsters transform into humans and didn´t say or show a human who loves them that there are monsters. they have fear that the human will hate them and leave them if find it out. in that case monsters will say normally: will you love no matter how i am? when the human say yes that means for the monster will be accepted in her true form. even the human will be shoked if he know that the person he love is a monster from that point on there is no turning back.

Maybe I'm just way too much a mushy romantic for a place like Danbooru, but I really like the notion that the little ghost girl created by regret and misery, whose whole life is being a pretender can be loved for what she really is (even if she seems kind of loli in her true form).

I can't say for sure, but the entry does say "women" as opposed to "female", so its probably humans only, since women are generally refereed to differently than monsters.

Other than that, I would argue that men feel lust toward monsters, as opposed to love: a monster would not associate long enough with a human that they had no interest in for there to be love.

well some monstergirls has high expection on man and will not accept anyone has husband/partner even when the man say he loves her. she can say: your are not my type, i don´t like you or you have not the expetion to become my husband! in that case the feel sad and the doppelgangers magic will not work in that case also when a man loves a man it won´t work. even monstergirls magic has a limit.
