In that little Hilda could understand what the two said except for the given names, as if they were spoken in a different dialect foreign to her (Which would be japanese, as indicated).

Or perhaps for her, those names were like some direct google translations. Something like "Fifteenth Night Blooming Night", "Full Moon Blooming Night" and finally "Sixteenth Night Blooming Night"...

IIRC, To be exact Hilda does seem to owe some Icelandic origins as well as Germanic since it comes from the old Norse "hildr"

So Patchy picked the name? Well makes sense as Remi didn't think through fully. Yet I think it is cute that Sakuya "Doesn't understand Japanese" which does make sense for her background.

They're probably speaking in english (but of course its manga, so its printed in japanese). So the only part Sakuya didnt understand was the names. Makes perfect sense.

For what it's worth, if it was a fairly long time ago they could be speaking anything from French to Latin. We could take Patchy's surname Knowledge and guess she's from England, and Remilia could be from England or not (Scarlet suggests yes, Remilia suggests otherwise; maybe Flandre was born in Flanders to English vampires?...).

I love Remi's overly proud expression when she announced her choices.

"We're going to the ORIENT!! From now on, everyone in this house shall speak NEEHONGO!!"
