Artist's commentary
On the front cover of the 1/1989 issue of Newtype is the movie version of the Knight of Gold from The Five Star Stories. Illustrated by Mamoru Nagano.
Nagano worked on Heavy Metal L-Gaim providing the mech & character design for the show. It is said he was disappointed with how it turned out so he created The Five Star Stories manga which he started in Newtype and is still being published today by Kadokawa. The movie was released March of 1989.
