This seems to be the original inspiration, apparently it's from a Netflix series. Couldn't find anything else about it, if it has a Knowyourmeme entry I couldn't find it.

Ah, so it doesn't look like there's an official name for it then, gotcha. It looks like this has been discussed previously in the forums though, but the automatic update seems to have failed so I'll ask NNT about it.
