raiden (metal gear)

One of the main characters of the Metal Gear franchise. He was a child soldier in the Liberian Civil War; when Solidus Snake made him his adopted son. He was known by nicknames of Jack The Ripper and White Devil, due to his remarkably outstanding kill record in the conflict. He was the hero of the Big Shell Incident, and assisted Solid Snake during The Guns of the Patriots.

In Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Raiden was transformed into a cyborg after numerous fights have crippled his human body and become a mercenary. The game revolves around his one-man war against World Marshal, a PMC backed by Senator Steven Armstrong, and his ideological conflict.

After his resurgence of popularity, he is often paired with Nier:Automata's 2B due to both having several similar traits, primarily being a white haired characters who has their body enhanced by cybernetics, and using sword as a weapon of choice.

He is voiced by Quinton Flynn in North America, and by Horiuchi Kenyuu [堀内 賢雄] in Japan.
