    Jynx was intended to be non-racist. The apperance was a reference to the ganguro fad of the 90's in Japan. The other was a reference to the Yuki-onna in Japanese mythology. A Yuki-onna was a snow spirit girl and the black face was a reference to frostbite.

    To be precise, it's a layered inspiration/pun: "yamanba" is both the name of a female mountain youkai, and slang for the deep end of ganguro fashion.
